Celebrate Juneteenth every day! How you might ask?
>Seeking to learn more about African American culture.
>Ask questions about history, the UNTOLD stories.
>Plan a trip to The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center to research the history of the holiday and slavery.
>Acknowledge the history of slavery and that what it did to an entire race of people for more that 400 years and that thankfully it ended.
>Be the change that we all hope for in a more diverse and equal culture in our country and communities.
What is Juneteenth?
It is an official American holiday celebrated annually on the 19th of June in the United States to commemorate Union army General Gordon Granger’s reading of federal orders in the city of Galveston, Texas, on 19 June 1865, proclaiming that all enslaved persons in the U.S. state of Texas were now free!
