Invasive plant species can wreak havoc for native plants and the ecological environment, with action being taken in the past year to eliminate the spread of some of those plants, like the Callery Pear tree. However, you can help give native plants a fighting chance to survive with the sale happening in Dayton.

Visit the 2nd Street Market on Sunday, May 7, for the Native Plant Sale. From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., customers can shop the selection of indigenous flowering perennials, grasses, trees and shrubs offered from Dayton-area nurseries. These plants are easy to care for and are acclimated to the local climate to ensure their chance to flourish.

The event is free to attend, and runs for the duration of 2nd Street Market’s Sunday hours of operation. For more information on this event and more, visit the Five River Metroparks website.
