Another superstar college basketball team filled with NBA first round, One and Done picks failed to win the College Championship. In fact the Schools most associated with One and Done’s, Kentucky and Duke have combined to win only six of the past 25 Tournaments. the other 19 Champions have been filled with experienced Jr’s and Sr. players Those teams had years of playing together and didn’t have the pressure of having to win a championship their freshman before they all moved on to the NBA. I can’t wait to see Zion and the top freshman enter the NBA, but I also would not mind seeing Zion return for his second season at Duke. The opportunity to leave college early and to collect on the big money that awaits is the NBA, not to mention the shoe contract Zion will sign will be record settings dollars, but for every Zion Williamson there are five Kwame Browns- prospects that never panned out. Kwame got paid by the NBA but we would remember him more fondly if we had seen him in a final four. The only reason we remember Kwame now is because he was chosen by Michael Jordan, which proves even the greatest player have trouble picking other great players. I know I am in the minority but I have no problem with kids being forced to stay at least two years in college or raising the minimum age to 20 to play in NBA. I also believe the players in college should be compensated, if the University is making money selling a players jersey, the player should at least get a percentage of that income. I don’t have a detailed plan, but any plan is better than the one they have in place now. None.
