Heisman Trophy winner and Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray was selected first in the NFL draft Thursday night. Just last year Kyler signed a Major league baseball contract with the Oakland A’s that came complete with a signing bonus of $4.6 million. He accepted the money but then announced he would pursue a football career in the NFL. Just in case you are wondering, yes he gets to keep the $4.6 million without ever stepping onto the field for the A’s (damn, that’s a good deal, huh?). NFL scouts say that Kyler may come with shortcomings, like his height. The average size of a NFL quarterback is 6’4 225 lbs. , Kyler stands 5’10 and weighs 190 lbs. Kyler winning the Heisman trophy was a major accomplishment, it probably helped that two seasons ago he backed up Baker Mayfield who won the Heisman trophy that year and currently is the starting QB for the Cleveland Browns. In high school Kyler was named top athlete in his home state of Texas. Twice. He led his High School football team to three state championships and lost only two games in three years. He will start next year for the Arizona Cardinals who were 8-8 last year. Odds are very good that Kyler will lose more games in the first two months of the season than he did all through High school and college. Good luck!
