Lead single from Coolio’s upcoming posthumous album drops Friday

Coolio‘s musical legacy will live on via the release of a new song. The lead single off his upcoming posthumous album, LONG LIVE COOLIO, “TAG ‘You It’” features West Coast MC Too $hort.

According to Billboard, a statement about the project describes “TAG” as a “catchy, raunchy and raw” song that pays “homage to ’90s hip-hop” and is “certain to create controversy and buzz.” It was supposed to release while Coolio was still alive, but will now drop Friday alongside an accompanying video. 

Coolio, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., passed away last September due to suspected cardiac arrest. His longtime manager, Jarez Posey, confirmed the news, sharing the rapper died at a friend’s house.

The release date for Coolio’s posthumous album has yet to be announced.
