We are so excited to be hosting a Juneteenth concert at the Levitt Dayton. It is extremely important to us that we provide the space and that community members curate the opening of the event. Opening ceremonies will begin at 5PM and Tank and The Bangas goes onstage at 7PM!
Who is Tank and The Bangas?
Tank and The Bangas are a five-piece group that has a rare knack for combining various musical styles—fiery soul, deft hip-hop, deep-groove R&B and subtle jazz—into one dazzling, cohesive whole that evokes the scope of New Orleans music while retaining a distinctive feel all its own. Tarriona “Tank” Ball came up in the strong local slam poetry scene before meeting her bandmates: Merell Burkett on keyboards, Joshua Johnson on drums, Norman Spence on bass and synth keys and, eventually, Albert Allenback on alto sax and flute.
While we are excited to welcome you back, we ask you please stay home if you or anyone in your household is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or has been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
In the interest of safety, we want to meet everyone where they are in this ever-changing environment. We have installed touchless restrooms and will provide hand sanitizing stations around the park. Clearly marked social distancing circles will be available at the back of the lawn for anyone who would like the space. We ask that everyone attending the concerts be respectful and kind to one another as we all enjoy the return of live music.
