Gabrielle Union Doesn’t Describe Herself As ‘Stepparent’ Gabrielle Union said the term ‘stepparent’ was given to her by the school of Dwyane Wade’s kids. While she dislikes the term she understands the school has to address you with a title. While she doesn’t care for the title she said the most important thing is the way one shows up for the kids. I knew I needed to be consistent. I just didn’t know what my role was. What I realized very quickly is you will never, ever, I don’t care if the other parent is dead, you will never be able to replace the other parent. Don’t try. Just be consistent so they know who you are and kids adapt. How do you feel about the term ‘stepparent?’
