The City of Dayton’s new False Alarm Ordinance has taken effect.
According to the revised Ordinance, the Dept. of Police will cease responding to alarms at any address that has had 7 or more false alarms within the previous 12 months. (This covers burglar alarms only, not robbery, medical, fire or panic alarms.)
All alarm owners will be required to register current info with the City of Dayton and pay a $10 registration fee- call 937-333-1237 or log onto www.cityofdayton.org/departments/police/Pages/default.aspx and click on the “Alarm Reg” icon to register.
A $50 fine will be imposed for the third false alarm, increasing by $50 each following occurrence to a max of $250,000 for the 7th false alarm and thereafter until the disconnection process is complete.
Alarms can also be disconnected for failure to register an alarm within 90 days of installation, or failure to pay fines when two or more fines are outstanding. (A $25 late fee will be added to any unpaid false alarm fines.)
