Meadowdale c/o 98 Ten Year Reunion

Exciting and fun programs for people of all ages are being planned at the Yellow Springs Community Library, 415 Xenia Avenue. Pajama time for young families is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12th at 7 p.m. Kevin Mulhall, Classical Guitarist, will be featured Thursday, August 21st at 7 p.m. Register for these and other programs offered at the library by calling 352-4003.

Conquer Chiari Walk Across America will be held Saturday, September 20th at Urbana City Park at the second entrance, 731 Childrens Home Road in Urbana, Ohio. Registration begins at noon. The walk starts at 1 p.m. Chiara Malformation is a serious neurological disorder affecting 300,000 people in the U.S. Participation is free but T-shirts will be provided for registered walkers with a minimum $20 donation. Visit conquerchiari.org.
  
Do you love to sing? Free group singing lessons sponsored by the Gem City Chorus begin Tuesday, September 2nd. You’ll learn how to sing four-part harmony and dance a little, too. Complete all six weeks and you will get to perform in the Chorus’s big show in October. Lessons are on Tuesday nights from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Centerville. Class size is limited. Call 937-433-1014.

The Major Taylor Cycle Club of Dayton is sponsoring its first annual Charity Ride Saturday, August 30th, starting from the Dayton Cultural & RTA Transit Center, 40 South Edwin C. The Second Annual Black Male Orientation to Leadership Development (BOLD) Conference will be held Saturday, August 23rd at Patterson Career Academy, 441 River Corridor Drive. Mayor Rhine McLin has scheduled a Mayor’s Day Tuesday, September 9th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Southeast Priority Board, 2160 East Fifth Street. Citizens will have an opportunity to meet with Mayor McLin for up to 15 minutes. Mayor’s Day meetings are conducted by appointment only and can be arranged by calling 333-3653 in advance. Mayor’s Day is designed to make City government more accessible to the citizens of Dayton.
 
Roberto Clemente ranks among the best baseball players of all time. There is a Smithsonian traveling exhibition to honor the life of this great player. “Beyond Baseball: The Life of Roberto Clemente” is now open through Sunday, October 12th at the Xenia Community Library, 76 East Market Street. The Xenia Library is the only location in Ohio to host the exhibit. The exhibit highlights Clemente’s baseball career and the other achievements of his life. Call Melissa at 352-4000 extension 1206.
