March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.  Colon Cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the third leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the U.S.  75% of colon cancer cases occur in people without any risk factors.  Everyone is encouraged to wear blue on Friday, March 6, 2015, National Dress In Blue Day, to bring awareness to Colon Cancer Prevention. Everyone age 50 and older should get screened.  African-Americans should get screened beginning at age 45.  Visit or for more details or to schedule your appointment.

Eighth Annual “No Buts About It” 5K for Colon Cancer Awareness    
March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month.  Join the physicians at Dayton Gastroenterology for the Eighth Annual No Buts About It 5K Run/Walk and Wellness Fair for Colon Cancer Awareness on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at The Mall at Fairfield Commons.  The health fair is in the Food Court  and begins at 8AM.  The 5K will begin just outside the Food Court doors at 9AM.  This family-friendly event is open to everyone, including teams, clubs and organizations. Event organizers expect over 1,000 participants again this year. The cost is $15 age 17 and under; $20 age 18+.  Price increases to $25/person day of race. Tech shirts for the first 150 people.  All others registered by March 5th are guaranteed a cotton t-shirt. 
Net proceeds from the 5K will provide free colonoscopy screenings for local residents in our community who are uninsured and meet economic hardship criteria.
