Black History Month: A Celebration Of Culture And History In Dayton!

Black History Month began as “Negro History Week,” which was created in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, a noted African American historian, scholar, educator, and publisher. It became a month-long celebration in 1976. The month of February was chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.

Here in Dayton, there are a number of events that will take place all month to include the award winning Bing Davis’ Dayton’s Skyscrapers through March 31st at The Victoria Theatre!
Willis “Bing” Davis, a professor of Mixed Media and Art, created “Dayton Skyscrapers”, as a  metaphor for high achievers, is celebrating a milestone with a wonderful 10 year anniversary celebration!
