EMPIRE is bringing fans the ultimate music experience this summer as it launches the "FOX's Next Empire Artist" nationwide bus tour, which kicks off Thursday, July 16 in Los Angeles. The gold EMPIRE bus, outfitted with a one-of-a-kind recording studio, will travel to 15 cities across the country, giving fans the opportunity to record their versions of EMPIRE's biggest hits. In addition, fans recording songs will also have the opportunity to record an a capella version to submit in the "FOX's Next EMPIRE Artist" contest, in which one lucky winner will appear as an EMPIRE artist during Season Two.

The President of the National Bar Association, Wright and Schulte, The Cochran Firm and The Ohio Student Association are presenting a "Do You Know Your Rights?" Seminar June 24th from 6-8 PM at Phillips Temple Church located at 3620 Shiloh Springs Rd., Trotwood, Ohio.

The first worship service after the murder of 9 of it's members, The Emanuel African Methodist Episcapol Church, held worship services on Sunday to an overflow of parishioners and mourners from Charleston and surrounding areas. Hundreds of people spilled out into the streets during the morning service as the pain of the murders, still fresh was met with a spirit of forgiveness, love and kindness. Black Music Month began in 1979 when Kenny Gamble, Ed Wright, and Dyana Williams developed the idea to set aside a month dedicated to celebrating the impact of black music. Created by music business insiders, the group successfully lobbied President Jimmy Carter to host a reception on June 7th, 1979 to formally recognize the cultural and financial contributions of black music. Mel Waiters, the rhythm and blues singer known for soulful party songs like “Hole In The Wall” and “Got My Whiskey,” died early Thursday (May 28) after a battle with cancer, he was 58.
Just last year Mel Waiters performed here in Dayton at Gilly's and gave a stellar show! In fact, 2 shows to sold out audiences where he and his band gave rousing performances of all of his hits and crowd favorites.
Mel Waiters will be greatly missed.
